praying for myself.  It’s a self-centric sort of week.  Praying that my surgery goes well and that whatever is found is merely an inconvenience.

::The Project I picked out the range for the kitchen, and am still searching for a drawer type microwave.  I’ve nailed down the arrangement of the cabinets and have started a list of details I want include, like the self-closing drawer stops, a lazy susan gizmo in the corner cabinet and wide, deep drawers.  I still haven’t picked out the actual cabinet style. That task needs to be completed this week, so that I can get a conference meeting with the installation designer for measurements.  Um yeah.  Then I’ll need to start rethinking everything because I’m sure that what I want either won’t actually fit in the space, or will mean lots of custom builds.

::delicious

  • Steak, Macaroni and Cheese, Spinach Salad
  • Chicken Pot Pie, Broccoli
  • Grilled Salmon, Green Beans
  • Gyros
  • Shrimp Scampi
  • Chili (again!) Frito Pie
  • Burgers, Broccoli Salad

What?  There are baked oven foods on the list?  Yes there are.  I procured a countertop oven to tide us over until the kitchen is fixed.  I baked muffins.  I made home-made macaroni and cheese.  I even baked brownies.  The family was ecstatic.

Really?

Yes, this is a real mailbox, spotted in a neighboring town.  It has a bear on top of it. I don’t know why.  It’s as random as local high schools who have elk and kangaroos as mascots, neither of which are indigenous to Texas.

::looking ahead

Biology project that involves spray paint, glitter and a bit of concrete mix.  Candy Corn, because it’s Halloween.  Workday for mountain bike trail building.  A day or two of rest.

Show and Tell – Rosaries

Linking up with my friends at Suscipio – It’s Show and Tell time!  Like Tiffany, I have a hoard…every time I see interesting beads or stones, I immediately think of how they will look as a rosary!  I give lots of them away, especially the bracelet rosaries, and have the ones I keep scattered all through my life.  You know, one in the purse, several in the cars, one on the bed table, tucked in drawers.

2013.10.16(1)

This one is a favorite.  Several years ago I scored a tremendous deal on rose quartz at a trunk show, and there were enough beads to make three pink rosaries.  The other two reside with Princess Pea and her best friend, aka my Other Daughter.  I think about the girls every time I pick it up.
2013.10.16(2)One of my rosary bracelets…wore it to work today!  The beads are amethyst, and the cross on it was a necklace that belonged to Cherry Ames when she was a little girl.  She outgrew the tiny chain years ago, and it hung in my jewelry box for years until I repurposed it.
2013.10.16(3)

My RCIA sponsor gave this blue one to me when I came into full communion with the Church.  It’s the one that I carry in my purse.
2013.10.16(4)

This is one I started for The Architect, but he requested a single decade that would fit in his pocket, so I reclaimed it.  The beads are hematite, so even though they are small, this rosary has a nice weight and it feels nice and cool in my hands.  (Note:  I just realized…if you click the picture to open it and zoom in close, you can see the outline of me and the camera reflected in each bead! Hematite is such a fun gemstone!)

Pray the Rosary. Keep the Faith.

praying for my family, especially my kids.  Cherry Ames  is almost finished with college and her world is about to open up three/four/five-fold.  I pray for her to make wise decisions, to hold fast to her faith, and that she finds a wonderful job!  Princess Pea is negotiating the leap from the Blinn Community College to A&M Proper.  I pray that the process is a simple and seamless as the TAPS Counselor(s) have promised her, and that she continues to do so very, very well in her studies. The Architect is growing up quickly; he’s more of a man and less of a child every day.  I pray that he continues to be steadfast and loyal. DirtBike – child of my heart – is doing so much better in school this year.  I pray that he continues to work hard, and that he doesn’t become discouraged when things don’t go so well; a good dose of heaven-sent persistence.

::healthy

I actually went to the Doctor for some ongoing issues. More tests to be done before we panic.  Please keep me in your prayers.

::pondering

Prayer, and ways to make it seamless within the passing of my days.

::Homey

I washed the curtains from the living room and dining room this weekend.  I love the way they look blowing about on the line.  I remember running through sheets on my Mom’s clothesline when I was a kid.  It was the best part of laundry day!

It’s time to tackle a really, really big project.  Like seriously big.  We’ve saved up the money and we’ll make the time – so here’s the commitment:   we are remodeling our kitchen, fixing up the bathrooms and replacing the flooring in our house!!!

We have lived in this house for 21 years now, and this is our first remodel. (Don’t judge…we were too busy raising kids to replace the carpets.)  This is going to be my “creative” report for the next many months.  First step?  I’m writing down the plan in my head for The Project (as it will now be named), with complete task lists and DEADLINES.  I will share this plan with Mr. Pea, and make him sign his name on it, because I don’t want this to drag on forever.  I will also make him pinkie-promise that if the schedule starts to slide, he will either take vacation time and work on The Project full-time, or he will let me hire a contractor to finish it.  I NEED a kitchen, folks!  I’ve been using a dying oven for three years (it’s been totally kaput since June of this year)  and now the microwave is acting funky, too. Cabinet doors are breaking daily, and the floors? Let me just say that you should never, ever try to keep carpeting more than a decade. It really does need to be replaced, especially if you’re raising kids and have pets of any sort.

Let the craziness begin!

::delicious
