Minutes – November 10, 2014

::thankful – for honest work, Mr. Pea’s knee getting better, pomegranates, the return of my physical strength, days of rest, and Judy Rosenberg who shared the most amazing oatmeal cookie recipe of all time in her cookbook Rosie’s Bakery Chocolate-Packed, Jam-Filled, Butter-Rich, No-Holds-Barred Cookie Book.

::praying for – for my children, especially DirtBike who is feeling under the weather; for more rain; for more grace than I deserve.

::remission – The past few weeks have been amazing, as I am finally, FINALLY able to move without pain.  I can feel my strength compounding daily.  I’ve been walking in increments of miles instead of steps, and can hold a 90 second plank without collapsing in a weeping heap.  My hair is now long enough to make a part on the side – long enough to post a new avatar out on the internet.  (Thank you for all the kind comments on Facebook!)

::delicious –  Winter food is in the making, because we’re supposed to get cold this week.  Real cold, like freezing temperatures at night (Yes! – Death to the Mosquitos!) and daytime highs in the low 40’s.

  • Grilled Chicken, Broccoli and a Salad – Ha!  Same thing I cooked last Sunday!
  • Chicken and Lentil Soup – made with the leftover chicken
  • Quiche – with cheese, peppers and herbs, Fruit Salad
  • Linguine with Tomatoes and Shrimp, Tossed Salad
  • Black Bean Tostadas, Spanish Rice and Sauteed Veggies
  • Blackened Salmon, Garlic Couscous and Green Beans
  • Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, Tomato Soup

::fun – Mr. Pea and I went to the car show this weekend.  We’ve just started looking for a new car and the car show was a) a lovely opportunity to spend time together; and b) a place to see All the Cars together in one place.   I sat in one of these:

2014.11.10 McLaren

That, my friends, is a McLaren Spider, a $346,000 car.  Yes indeed…that’s a car that costs as much as a house.  It is absolutely beautiful and that orange color?  The picture doesn’t do it justice. It’s deep pearly orange with gold iridescence.  It will go from 0 to 60 mph in THREE SECONDS!!   Mr. Pea just sort of shook his head no; peeled me out of seat; and dragged me away to go look at more reasonable options. I may or may not have drooled on the steering wheel.

::this week – The Architect is away this week for the Senior Kairos retreat.  He went on his own Senior retreat last year, as a Juior….this year he’s serving as a peer minister to his friends and classmates.   I have a few reports and plats that are due before Thanksgiving, so I’ll be focusing on getting them finished this week.  I also need to drag the potted plants into the sunroom this evening so they don’t freeze.  I meant to do it yesterday, but opted for a nap instead.

Dream About Fast Cars.  Keep the Faith.
