Minutes – September 30

::faithful

praying for r.a.’s daughter; for Kathleen’s Mom; for my friend Julie.

::healthy

I’ve gotten sloppy with tracking my calories.  Before my work clothes get too snug, it’s Recommittment time!  I’m going to pay attention in October, including being a little more discerning about what I  choose to eat and a little less lax about exercising.

::pondering

Nothing spiritual nor deep.  I’ve been mulling over a few complicated projects that have short fuses.  I think I just about have them worked out.

::creative

Knitting still, because it calms me. I also plan to start the annual Christmas Newsletter this week, and switch out the bow and foliage gizmos on the front porch cork wreath.  It’s time to put away the summer frou frou and break out the fall pretties.

::delicious

  • Pulled Pork Sandwiches
  • Chicken Burritos with Spanish Rice and Black Beans
  • Pasta with Eggplant Marinara
  • Beef Bourguignon and Mashed Potatoes
  • Turkey Paninis
  • Burgers at Homecoming Game
  • Breakfast for Dinner

My Daily Walk
My Daily Walk – Yep.  This is the back yard of my office.  Six laps is a two mile walk.

We participated in the hosting of a golf tournament yesterday.  DirtBike was in charge of driving me around in a golf cart all day long so I could snap pictures.  It was a very, very long day, but just amazing because the weather was absolutely beautiful.

::looking ahead

Homecoming Week!  That means football, funny dress up days at school (The Architect stepped out this morning in camo and a full beard…one of the Duck Dynasty Guys.) Facilities Committee meeting, proposals at work and My Sister’s Birthday!

::faithful

praying for my children as they move forward in a new school year, especially for DirtBike; for Mom Pea’s health; for the intentions of friends

*sigh*  Once again I have messed up my right ankle.  My first injury on this ankle happened when I was about fourteen years old, and it involved a skateboard, a wayward curb and a piece of ply-board.  Another injury involved trying to dismount from a horse and missing the ground. Yet another involved playing soccer – that one landed me in a cast for many weeks.  This time?  Not so glamorous.  I simply tripped over a crack in the sidewalk and rolled that baby.  It’s been more than ten days now and it’s still swollen and technicolor bruised.  If I don’t see some improvement in the next few days, I’ll go get an x-ray and dig my walking cast out of the closet. In the meanwhile, I’m focusing on pushups and situps, neither of which involve bearing weight on my gimpy right side

::pondering

New health insurance mandates.

::creative

Knitting!  Since I’m spending lots of time on my duff with my foot elevated and iced, I’m knitting.  Working on Christmas suprises as well as stocking the baby gift stash since there are dozens of young couples in our lives who will be welcoming wee ones in the next many months.

::delicious

  • Chicken Tacos
  • Pasta and Salad
  • Hoagies
  • Breakfast for Dinner
  • Chicken Salad with sliced tomatoes
  • Pizza on the Grill, Salad
  • Crock Pot BBQ Chicken, Slaw, Green Beans

It’s the end of summer doldrums in the kitchen…craving beef stew and homemade bread but it’s too darned hot to cook.

::fun

Okay.  I had some quiet time fun on Sunday afternoon.  The Architect was working at the waterpark, so I took him to work, then parked my keister on a lounge, elevated my foot with a towel and read a book all afternoon while DirtBike hung out with his bestie.  I would occasionally get up and dip in the wave pool or take a round on the lazy river.  Mr. Pea says he will join me next Sunday afternoon. I so very rarely sit and do nothing.  It was amazing.

Minutes – August 6

::faithful

praying for Angela’s Mom and for Roxie’s Mom, for healing and recovery; for my children as they prepare to go back to college and high school; for my husband, for all the intentions passed my way

grateful for air conditioning; bananas; a car that runs without problems

::healthy

Ugh.  It’s hot again here in Texas.  Too hot to play outside unless you’re up at the crack of dawn. I’ve decided to forgo my daily lunchtime walk for some workout time in the office. Yep.  I have a big office, a door that closes and super great air conditioning, so I’ll be logging miles of jumping jacks, burpees, push ups and sit ups. Princess Pea, my younger daughter, was so generous to share her “We’re Sexy and We Know It” workout routine that she created for an assignment in her Kinesiology class last semester.  It’s tough, with all of the previously mentioned exercises, plus squats, lunges and mountain climbers. Toss in some Pilates stretches and I have a tidy little workout.  Who needs to go outdoors when it’s 106 degrees?

::pondering

Life plans and paperwork.

::creative

Hmph.  The most creative thing on the docket this week is cleaning the fridge.  Maybe I’ll arrange the condiment bottles according to height. Yeah.  That will suffice.

::delicious

  • Grilled Steak, potatoes, Tossed Salad
  • Turkey Paninis and Carrot Sticks
  • Bratwurst, Macaroni and Cheese, more Salad
  • Hawaiian Pork Kabobs, Fresh Peas
  • Grilled Flank Steak, Fresh tomatoes and more Salad

Are you seeing a theme here?  uh-huh.  It’s called Cook As Much Stuff Outside as Possible and Eat Lots of Salad So That You Don’t Have to Turn on the Stove.

::fun

The Tour de Cure was brief this year.  We cut our ride short – only did 15 miles – because we had to be at Gordon’s funeral.  The best part was my Husband telling all his coworkers how great our kids are with their cycling!  Made my heart zing!2013 Tour de Cure

DirtBike, Princess Pea and The Architect. SUPER cool LMAero Jerseys!2013.08.06(2)Me.  Riding my bicycle on the Texas Motor Speedway!
