Giveaway Day!

Sew, Mama, Sew! is hosting Giveaway Day, a fabulous way to find new online stores, visit new blogs and make new friends. Most of all, it’s a wonderful way to spread some Holiday Cheer!

I have this lovely pearl bracelet to share. It’s 7 1/2″ of delicate quad stitch bead weaving, incorporating freshwater pearls with a rice krispie texture.

Giveawayday09-1

The clasp is a single pearl with a very unusual shape, almost like a little snowman! I suppose if you were brave and took a fine point Sharpie to it, you could actually have a little snowy guy.

Giveawaday09-2

Every woman should have pearls that she wears as casually as plastic beads, and she should wear plastic beads as if they are pearls!
How To Partake of the Goodness:

  • Entry #1 – Leave me a comment between now and midnight December 6th, EST. (It’s not just a conincident that the Giveaway actually happens on the Feast Day of St. Nicholas!)
  • Entry #2 – Write a post about this giveaway on your blog, and let me know about it here.
  • The Fun is Open to everyone! I’ll ship anywhere on Planet Earth!
  • Make sure you leave me a way to contact you if you win – EMail addy, blog location, carrier pidgeon stoop, GPS coordinates…they all work.
  • I’ll use my favorite method for choosing – drawing a name out of a hat. This hat, to be precise.

    Good Luck, and Merry Christmas!

Pay It Forward Some More!

Another Pay It Forward went to the Sewing Dork. This one was fun, just because I was in a knitting mood. I made her two pairs of felted mittens, made with wool roving in lovely varigated colors.

I also helped with her quest for completey reusable housekeeping tools with new dishcloths. I’m the first to admit that there is absolutely nothing glamourous about doing dishes; however, a pretty cloth can make it a little more tolerable. These were knit with cotton yarn, in varigated colors.

Recipe for Toad Suck Sunshine Salad

Toad Suck Sunshine Salad is one of those classic jello salads that you see at church potlucks, office luncheons and baby showers thrown by your Great Aunts. My kids, nieces and nephews love it and insist on it for every family gathering. I got the recipe from Donna L, a friend of mine in Arkansas.

Toad Suck Sunshine Salad

1 pkg lemon jello
1 c boiling water
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 large can crushed pineapple
1 c chopped pecans
1 lg container cool whip

Directions:
Mix jello and boiling water. Dissolve 8 oz cream cheese in hot Jell-O mixture and add crushed pineapple and chopped pecans. fold in Cool Whip. Set over night. Fluff up and dive in…

(Sometimes I toss in a few cups of mini-marshmallows for fun.)
