Minutes – June 18

Praying for

  • Husband who is not feeling well
  • Friends who are traveling
  • Biking buddy who had a nasty crash
  • Patience.  Didn’t I pray for that last week?

Grateful for

Dads!  Both my own and the one who helped create our kids.

Princess Pea's Creation

 This is what the crew made for their Dad for Father’s Day.

DirtBike got a 98 on his first Spanish Quiz!!  Yeah!!  The kids went to a concert Saturday evening at the Botanic Garden to see Reckless Kelly.

Here’s a big shout out to the Dust Bunnies – thanks for a super fun ride at Legacy on Tuesday evening!  It was my first time on dirt there.  I’ve always dropped off The Architect and Cherry Ames at the dirt trails and then ridden the paved trail with Mr. Pea, Princess Pea and DirtBike.  The dirt trails are FUN!!

Crossfit is still going strong.  I so appreciate my employer who provides this perk for us. I jumped rope for three minutes, and didn’t trip once. That’s a minor miracle in itself!

::delicious

On tap for this week – meatball subs and green beans; Veggie lasagna; Thai chicken kabobs with coconut rice and summer squash; Bean soup and cornbread muffins; Pork tenderloin with broccoli salad.  I made a humongous batch of meatballs Saturday afternoon.  You’d think the Pea Family won the lottery or something, they were so excited.  I really should make them more often…

On the needles – back to the mitten, and it’s halfway finished.  Then a test pattern knit for an adorable baby vest.

Other creative things this week include repairing the broken jewelry that I didn’t get to last week.  Maybe I’ll do some actual baking, as I really want some lemon bars.  Oh!  I need to make a new clothespin apron, too.  Mine is fraying apart around the edges, so it’s time for a new one.  I also need to stitch up a hole in the love seat in the family room. After twenty three years, the leather is wearing thin in spots.

::fun

Watching Downton Abby. (I love Netflix.) Still reading the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes with DirtBike. Definitely some kayaking one evening this week with Mr. Pea and the boys.

::looking ahead

Still developing that water model for the City of Denison.  Taking DirtBike’s glasses in for repairs.  Orthodontist and dentist appointments. Grocery shopping again. Laundry.  School physicals.  Scouring the internet for the least expensive textbooks available for Cherry Ames, Princess Pea and The Architect.

 Record the Minutes.  Keep the Faith.

Friday’s Letters – June 15

PhotobucketDear Mom – Thank you for sending me the $10 for the animal crackers for Dad from Costco.  Totally unnecessary, but  WOW!! I now have a secret stash in my wallet for an emergency Starbucks Fix or two!  Oh, and I actually wrote you a real letter, on paper, and dropped it in the mail this morning.  Enjoy!

Dear Dust Bunnies –  Thank you for the AWESOME trail ride this week!  You were especially kind to a beginner rider.  I can’t wait to go again.

Dear Crazy Driver at 820E This Morning – Texting and driving is NOT COOL, especially when it distracts you to the point that you swerve over into my lane, totally freaking me out and making me spill coffee!

Dear LC – Hey Dude!  I saw you on the evening news!  You totally rock.  Totally.

Dear IT Department – Thank you for fixing my computer.  Now where did you put my Autocad settings? And the drivers for my ancient printer?

Dear Weathermen – What’s with the overhyped forecast?  Yes, we had hail on Tuesday.  That does not mean that every rain cloud that forms for the next several days is going to drop volleyball size chunks of ice on our heads.

Dear Ravelry and Knitty – Stop distracting me. That is all.

Dear Summer School – Thank you for being so kind to DirtBike.  He’s getting the hang of Algebra!  Happy Dance Time!

Dear Neighbors on the East Side – I am so sorry for all the damage you are dealing with.  While I am shamefully gleeful that the hail didn’t hit us this time around, I feel for your losses and the utter chaos you’ll be living in for the next several weeks.  Take a deep breath, stay calm, and deal with the insurance companies and cleanup one moment at a time.  I promise it will all work out. The roofs will be replaced.  The cars will get new glass and the dents pulled out flat again.  The trees will grow new leaves.  The world will be all right once again.

Write a Letter.  Keep the Faith.

Minutes – June 10

Praying for

  • Friends who are caught up in difficult times
  • A son who is struggling with learning difficulties and growing up at the same time
  • A daughter (or two) who are determined to be adults, but who aren’t 100% up to speed
  • Patience

Grateful for

Rain!!  We got rain this week.  We’re still officially in drought mode, and the heat is coming.  Every drop is appreciated.

Then, Sunshine!!  And an end to pollen season, which means the clotheslines get put back into service.  Yeah!!

::healthy

Outdoor exercise was curtailed this week.  Did I mention that it rained?  That’s okay, because we have a nifty gym at the office.  Lots of weight lifting, and practicing jump rope.  I’m not very good at it, and spend more time untangling my feet than I do actually jumping.  Silly, huh?

::delicious

On tap for this week – Nachos with pinto beans, Grilled Chicken and fresh zucchini, Pasta with eggplant and more zucchini, Hamburgers with cucumber and tomato salad (again, by request), Salmon and couscous salad, which will be a new recipe trial. First Cherries were delicious, and devoured within in minutes after the kids found them in the fridge.

::creative

On the needles – back to the mitten. The slippers turned out cute.  I’m going to felt them again, and add a flower or two.  THEN I’ll post a picture. Nothing like stringing you all along, right?

Other creative things this week include repairing some broken jewelry, painting a picture frame and trying to salvage my dried up garden.  The Daughters have salvaged an old headboard from a neighbor, and plan to paint it and turn it into a giant bulletin board.  I can only hope that it will get carried to one or the other of their school residences so that I don’t have to figure out where to put it at home.

::fun

Still reading the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes with DirtBike, and finishing up The Pipe Dreamers for book club.  It was ‘meh’.  Neat little peek into the tumultuous 1960’s college scene, but not all that interesting to me.

Perhaps some kayaking one evening this week…

::looking ahead

Trail ride on Tuesday with the Dust Bunnies, Mayoral ride on Wednesday, CrossFit and walking the dog.  We’re still defatifying Max.  He’s looking better and moving easier with the poundage leaving his frame.  His golden years will be more comfortable for sure.  Developing a water model for the City of Denison at work, along with wrapping up a site certificate and taking two projects to bid – Whoot!

 Record the Minutes.  Keep the Faith.
