Learning to Run – Week Four, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Runs – Our First Release

Slacking a bit on posting?  You Betcha.  It’s been a crazy week.  Second run happened Thursday, third run happened on Friday and fourth run was yesterday morning.  Yesterday I ran over to a construction site on the other side of my development where one of my projects is being constructed.  It looks great, exactly what I designed.  The contractor is doing a good job.  The concrete is finished well, and saw joints have already cracked through to the bottom of the pavement section.  Yes.

Here’s my focus for today –

We have a house full of family and plenty of food ready for later this afternoon.  Well, there will be plenty once I make some potato salad.   Husband Dear is outside cleaning the patio and putting ice in coolers.
Today we release our first born into the wild, ready for college and for whatever lies beyond.

Learning to Run – Week Four, First Run

Did it!!   It’s super hot and muggy in Texas today, and in spite of this, I actually ran MORE than I walked!  Did the entire interval set with not a single stitch in my side, or ache in my hip.   Can you believe it??   I am totally impressed and so very pleased with myself.  I feel like a little kid waving a perfect math paper in front of my Mom, jumping up and down with excitement, wriggling with anticipation of a big smile from her and a boatload of praise!
Weigh in was yesterday – a whopping half pound lost.  Isn’t that just grand?  Just how much is a half pound?

Two of these………………one of these……………..or one of these, full
Doesn’t seem like a lot, does it.  That’s okay.  I’ll take it, just becasue I RAN today!  *all smiles and grins*

Learning to Run – Week Three, Third Run – Flasher!

Third Run – Done.  With a little extra flashing thrown in for excitement.  I decided to run outside today, mostly because I needed a break from ‘the guys’ around here.  Everyone’s all basketball this, baseball that, and ‘ooo-gah’ I can benchpress five billion pounds.  Gag Me!  It’s still windy, VERY windy, and as I started to cross the bridge over the Trinity River I noticed that the updraft seemed a little stronger than ususal. Buy the time I got to the middle of the bridge, I could feel my hair standing straight up and WHOOIE!!  There went my shirt!!  I’m struggling to pull it back down when I noticed the lady in the car that was going by was laughing uproariously.  I just smiled and waved, girls, smiled and waved.
I won’t be running tomorrow because my aching joints need some rest, and I’m scheduled for a day long specification writing class for my mandatory continuing education.  I do, however feel a rant coming on, and may just be inspired to post it.
