Skinny This Summer – Day 3 – A Walk in the Park

Exercise today?  Walking.  I started out running but honestly?  I don’t really like it.  I much prefer to ride a bike. It’s Faster!  I Can Go Far!  However, I had errands to run, so I walked.  To the bank.  To the library.  Back to the office.
Today’s route led me through Burnett Plaza, a sweet urban park a few blocks from my office.  I would say I took a Walk in the Park, but actually I came to a complete standstill so I could snap some pictures for you.  Seriously, I can hardly walk and chew gum, much less walk and take pictures. I didn’t want to end up on YouTube.

Slimmer This Summer Day 2 – Glutton for Punishment

It was hot again today. Really, really hot. So what did I do?  Headed out the door at noon on a bicycle for a quick twelve mile ride!  I had to ride south to pick up DirtBike’s prescription from the pediatrician anyway, and I’m carless for the summer because Cherry Ames and I are carpooling…and I get dropped off first.

So what was spectacular on the ride other than my sweat drenched self?
Standing Cypress!

This Texas wildflower stands about three to four feet tall and is electric red.  Seriously, like Day-Glo burn your eyeballs bright red. The shots I took of the whole plat were fuzzy, so I borrowed the one below from dallasgardens.com so you can see how impressive it is.

Slimmer This Summer Day 1 – Over the River…

Over the river and through the woods
To the north side I go!!
The wind was NOT blowing today, so I hit the Trinity Trails going north today.  (I usually head south first, into the wind, so that I can coast with the wind coming back when I’m, uh, all winded and tired.)  Going north means ~Whoot!~ I get to ride right over the river!!  That’s a low water crossing to the left, and it’s wide enough to ride across.  You have to be really careful to make that right turn at the bottom of the ramp.
Birds have been having a feast on the crawdads.
Carcassas and broken claws scattered all over the dam.
Once upon a time, I could drive one of these.
I’m pretty sure I’ve forgotten how!

How did it go today?GREAT!  EMail Anglea Pea
