StS Challenge – Day 71 – A [not] Progress Report!

What?  No progress report from Angela Pea??  Nope.  Not last week, not this week.

Why?  Because last report day I was caught up making a presentation then dashing to the airport to hop on a plane and catch up to my family, who had already left for a …wait for it….VACATION!!!!  Thursday was report day, but I had another meeting to attend and missed WW.  So Sunday it is.

I did okay with eating while at the beach…very mindful of portions, fried foods, drinks…but I didn’t get a whole lot of exercise, other than swimming, a few hours of kayaking, and the occasional lifting of my hand to turn the page of the book I was reading while lounging under a beach umbrella.  I didn’t track a thing, just enjoyed the food I chose to eat and the few glasses of wine I chose to drink.

It was pure bliss.  BLISS I tell you!  This is the first vacation we’ve taken in five years, and I enjoyed every single moment of the absolute luxury of doing nothing.  Nothing.  We unplugged everything.  No laptops were turned on, blackberries were turned off and left in the hotel safe, no iPhones in sight.

So…here’s my week in review.

  • Tracking.  Nope!  None!
  • Eat those Points. Yes!  I’m pretty sure I ate all my points.
  • Earn a minimum of 50 activity points a week. Seriously?  Can I count points for napping under the beach umbrella?  How about sand castle building?  Chasing crabs on a dark beach?  Diving for sand dollars?

  • Blogging.  Nada!
  • No quitting?  No brainer.  I haven’t quit yet….I just took a week off.
  • Supporting fellow challengers – I fully intend to hop over and visit everyone before Sunday.  Really!

Seriously?

If you’ve seen or heard any sort of weather report in the last few weeks, you know it’s been a particularly hot summer for the midwest states. We’re still sweltering here in north central Texas, but thanks to Tropical Storm Dan swirling around down there in the Gulf of Mexico, we may not actually get to 100 today, only 99.  Ninety Nine is still pretty darned miserable, and tomorrow is back to broiling, AND the predictions for next week are up to 110 and higher regular temperatures…with extra humidity thrown in for insult because of Dan.  Dan couldn’t bring us clouds or rain, just humidity. Stupid Dan.

ONE day? Seriously?

Here’s my take. We’re already over-baked, and the entire state is drought stricken and dry as melba toast. Our lakes levels are quickly dropping, so pretty soon we’ll be fighting over water rights.  The only thing going for us this summer is the idea that we may break all temperature records for all time! So why blow it for just one day that is still so hot and humid it’s ridiculous? If I were the official thermometer reader at the DFW station, I’d go out there, see 99.8 degrees as the official reading and think to myself “That’s close enough” and then write down an even 100.

StS Challenge – Day 54 – Progress and Still Hot

Weather? – Still the same, hot.

Work? – Still the same, busy.

Weight? – Lost 0.2 pounds!!!

I have felt so sluggish this week between the heat, the insane busy-ness at work, the heat, the heat and the heat, I’ve been exhausted every day.  I’m literally forcing myself to get some activity and slinging locks and chains around the fridge and pantry to keep myself out of them.

Well, not really, because the teens have to eat, but isn’t that a great image across your brain cells?

So how did this week go?  Here are the Stats:

  • Weight Watchers Rules!
    Progress - July 21-27

    Yes!  I’m eating more!  Not touching any weekly points, but certainly trying to put a dent in the activity points I earn. Tuesday night?  A surprise date night with Mr. Pea, and we went to Mancuso’s, our all time favorite Italian restaurant.  We’ve been friends with the owners for more than thirty years.  I had a kid size portion of lasagna, and yes, it was worth every single point!

Other Goals:

  • Tracking.  Done!  Something’s a bit wonky with the progress chart, though.  I DID track healthy checks on Tuesday, but they don’t show up on the chart.  Weird.  I suppose that’s why it’s called ‘beta’ version, right?
  • Eat those Points. Yes!
  • Earn a minimum of 50 activity points a week.  I earned 68 APs this week.  A mere drop in the bucket compared to last week’s all time record.  I tell you, it was HARD earning those points this week. It meant getting to work an hour early to bike, or riding at home in the dark.  I also went to the Y this week and swam laps, because it was the only kind of exercise I could think of that didn’t involve potential heat stroke!!
  • Blogging.  Done. I even got in a Sweet Shot post this week.  I’m planning another PSA about exercising in the heat, if I ever quit sweating long enough to write it.
  • No quitting?  No brainer.  I haven’t quit yet!
  • Supporting fellow challengers – I have mostly lurked so far this week, but hey!  I have three days to checked back and spread some cheer!  I’ll be seeing you all before Sunday.  I continue to pray daily for our entire group, with special prayers for Mir and her family.
