Minutes – July 30

::faithful

Praying for

  • a Friend who need rest
  • a Friend who is overloaded with grief
  • a Friend who has way too much teenage angst in her home
Grateful for
  • my husband
  • my children
  • a home that is a shelter from the world

::healthy

For the first time in forever, last week was a complete no-go. I didn’t run, bike, lift weights, do a single push-up or sit-up. I didn’t track any calories.  The heat is so miserable, and my frustration with weight loss got the better of my good intentions.  I know these last several pounds are not going to go away by themselves, but I was tired of the trying last week.  I’ve been trying for more than a year to shed the last few pounds, so much that I am blinded to the 67 pounds I have already lost.  How will I know when to say ‘when’?

Squeee!!!! The pink knitted piggy is finished!  SO SO cute.  All I need to do is stitch on some eyes, then I’ll post a picture.

::delicious

In the interest of my own sanity, I have declared this week to be an Official No Cooking Sandwich and Salad Week.

  • Taco Salad
  • Turkey Wraps
  • Pasta Salad with Ricotta Pesto, Zucchini and Corn
  • Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwiches (okay, I’ll have to cook bacon for this, but bacon?  Bacon makes everything better, and I’ll cook it up out on the grill and not in the house.)
  • Shrimp Club Salad, using the extra bacon I prepared from the day before.
  • Club Salad
  • Chicken Caesar Salad

::fun

The Architect had his first race of the Fall Season.  Yes, it was hot and sticky, but WOW!!!  He placed Second!!  We’re so proud of him.  He’s been training since spring and working very hard at improving his technical skills – turning and climbing.

Start

First out of the gate!

::looking ahead

I am missing my youngest daughter with a ferocity that startles me, and she hasn’t left yet.    I don’t remember being this unsettled when Cherry Ames first left home.  I need to hold it together this week so that a) I don’t worry Mr. Pea; and b) I send Princess Pea off with smiles and happy anticipation.  She is so excited about leaving for college this week.

School Orientation Day is Wednesday.  I need to hem the boys’ new uniform pants before then, as well as find DirtBike’s left shoe and fill out the piles of forms.  The schools should seriously step into the 20th century and have all these forms in an electronic format with  on-line submittal.

Linking up at Suscipio – come join us!

 Record the Minutes.  Keep the Faith.

  1. Angela, I held it together when my youngest left until I was in the produce dept of the store where he used to work..And the waterworks started in the fruit section.
    Praying for your friend with too much teenage angst in her home. +

  2. I want to steal your menu! Please tell me more about that Pasta salad! yum and healthy!

    I feel for you as a mom about your daughter leaving….not for a while for me…but still as a mom we all have our seasons in life….like mine going to kindergarten! lol. (i would love to home school….but not happening between a spilt home 😦

    I did not know you lost 67lbs. WOW that is such a wonderful accomplishment. 🙂

    Blessings to you and your family.

  3. Don’t beat yourself up over going off track! A 67 pound weight loss is a huge achievement! And I’m betting that giving yourself a week off will kick start future weight loss.

    And I’m going to have to check back to see that pink knitted piggy… sounds cute!

  4. Angela, a no-go week occasionally is fine, as long as the weeks do not turn into months. And I know yours will not.
